Effective Coaching

Effective Coaching

Effective coaches ensure positive physical and psychological outcomes for their athletes. Knowledge gained has helped me to adjust my coaching techniques to better adapt to the wide age range of students that I currently work with. I know that the seven year olds are going to learn differently than the 18 year olds. I can also use what I have learned and pass it on to the older students so that they can assist with younger students and work to become great leaders themselves.

Tackling a Family Issue

This document is intended to describe a youth who has positively developed, the negative impact that parental pressure can place on youth sport and how coaches can help create a positive relationship between athletes and parents. Research shows that children who are positively encouraged are more coachable. As a Youth Development Leader I can utilize the suggestions for improvement and be a resource for fellow coaches and the parents of my athletes.

Diversity Investigation

Diversity Investigation

In this paper I investigated the diversity/cultural competencies of the Youth Shelter Services organization. As a Youth Development Leader it is important that I work to create an inclusive environment, one where everyone feels welcomed. Taking a look at the competencies of another organization as they related to diversity helped open my eyes to what the organizations I now work with should be striving for and through also analyzing weak areas what should be improved upon.
